This week all roads led to Athlone for the iCRAG Summit 2018. Spread across two days, in the idyllic lake-side location of the Hodson Bay Hotel, the Summit saw a variery of hot topics discussed. On day 1, a stocktake of iCRAG1 took place: an appraisal of progress to date, and a projection forwards to the remainder of the first round of the Centre's funding. The highlight of day 1 was the teambuilding event led by Prof. Hitzman, which challenged iCRAG researchers to find a hidden ore body of red food bye in some craftily contsructed cakes (below). To round up Day 1, a number of highly prestigious and very serious awards were distributed. Day 2 started with Prof. Hitzman outlining a vision for iCRAG 2 and announcing that Prof. Bean would take over the position of Deputy Director from this September. Discussions on iCRAG 2 then followed, before a wrap up and departure. All in all an excellent event with many new connections made across the Centre!
