Joe Mongan has over more than 32 years oil industry experience, starting within the geophysical service sector and progressing in various consultancy roles. He joined Tullow in 1993 as staff operations geophysicist and headed up the Geophysical Technology & Operations team from 2005. He is currently Group Manager for Applied Geophysics and responsible for providing three integrated geophysical services; geophysical data acquisition, geophysical data processing and quantitative inversion across all of Tullow’s business development teams.
The Applied Geophysics team leverages its relationship with research institutions and industry consortia to benefit from leading-edge technologies and enable focussed technology transfer to the business. He represents Tullow on a number of industry corroborative groups in including the Irish Shelf Petroleum Studies Group (ISPSG) and theInternational OGP, Geophysical operations and geomatics sub-committees. He has been actively involved in the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) for many years and served as vice-chair, chairman and past chair of the SEG Global Affairs Committee from 2013-2016. He is currently an executive director at Tullow Oil Limited, and holds a BSc in geology and MSc in Applied Science from University College Dublin.
