Biography
Adam is an early career researcher in the field of geotechnical engineering. He graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a bachelors degree in Geoscience in 2023. Following this he worked for a year as an engineering geologist in the ground investigations industry, before finding his way into a research masters degree in geotechnical engineering at UCD. As a geotechnical engineer, his work draws upon the knowledge and research from both the fields of geoscience and of engineering in order to better understand the ground under our feet, from an engineering point of view, so that construction works can be designed accordingly. Adam's research focuses on developing a greater understanding of the properties and behaviour of a specific type of clay called Irish Sea Till, which lies along much of the east coast. This clay has not yet been studied in detail from an geotechnical point of view and is known to cause issues with construction.
