Biography
Livia Teixeira is a Brazilian geologist and a member of the iCRAG team at Trinity College Dublin, where she works as a Research Assistant in the LA-ICP-MS laboratory, focusing on the characterization of raw materials. Her doctoral research in Geophysics explores the petrographic, geochemical, and magnetic properties of Neoarchean banded iron formations from Carajás, Brazil. When she's not in the lab investigating rocks, Livia has a deep appreciation for art, nature, and enjoys exploring music, photography, and planning her next adventure. She also loves kayaking, reading, sipping wine, and spending quality time with friends. Livia has a passion for meeting new people and believes that empathy, kindness, and respect are the foundations of any relationship/society—after all, 'gentileza gera gentileza'.
Her research at TCD focuses on characterising natural sulphide and iron oxide minerals, and developing reliable standards for the analysis of a range of elements, including critical metals. This work involves creating multi-element reference materials to enable precise trace element analysis in carbon, sulphide, and iron oxide matrices. These standards are essential for improving the accuracy of in-situ measurements, contributing to advancements in both geological research and industrial applications.
