iCRAG Communications and Engagement Manager Dr Fergus McAuliffe was among the recipients of awards at a special Education and Training Boards Ireland (ETBI) event in Limerick.
Hosted by RTÉ newsreader and former ETB student Ray Kennedy, the ETB Alumni awards were presented to former ETB learners who have achieved excellence in their chosen field.
Dr McAuliffe was recognised for his contribution to science communication. With over a decade of science communication work across the fields of television, radio, education, creative arts and public engagement, much of Fergus’ work has been in his capacity as Communications and Engagement Manager at iCRAG where he oversees the Centre’s award-winning public engagement programme.
A former student of Coláiste Choilm, Ballincollig, Co. Cork, Fergus was presented with the award by Cork ETB.
Speaking on receipt of the award Dr McAuliffe said: “It’s an honour to receive an ETB Alumni Award from Cork ETB. My thanks in particular to Principal Michelle Sliney for nominating me and the staff at Coláiste Choilm for instilling in me a love for science, the environment, and for following my curiosity for engaging people with science.”
