The Irish Geological Research Meeting (IGRM) is an all-Island annual event hosted by the geoscience departments in research institutes across Ireland. Taking place in March 2024 in the University of Galway, the event saw geoscience researchers from across Ireland and internationally join the conference for three days of talks and posters.
Congratulations to all iCRAG researchers that presented. In particular, Nikita Turton of iCRAG at UCD won Best Student talk (in memory of Barry Long). The title of Nikita’s talk was: “Enhanced physical weathering during the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum, a clay mineralogy perspective from the Modgunn Hydrothermal Vent, Norwegian Continental Margin.”
Clara Crowell of iCRAG at UCD won Best Poster. The title of Clara’s poster was “TOPDOWN: Examining the vertical expression of the last glaciation of Ireland."
Isuri Weerasinghe of iCRAG at UG was also commended for both their poster entitled ‘’Connecting past and present knowledge to assess the future of our Mesopelagic fish resources and ecosystem functioning’’ and their presentation of the same name. Somaye Bayat of iCRAG at UG received special recognition for their poster entitled ‘’Investigation of Depth and Dimension Effects on Ireland’s Karst Reservoirs Using Synthetic Seismic Reflected Data.’’
