Aileen Doran, PhD researcher at iCRAG at UCD has been awarded €2,200 as part of the U21 travel bursary scheme to travel to the Scottish Universities Environmental Research Centre (SUERC) and the University of Glasgow in July 2019 to carry out hydrogen isotope analysis of carbonates from the Irish Zn-Pb orefield. The application of hydrogen isotope analysis has the potential to elucidate many of the poorly understood aspects fluid process associated with mineralization. The results of the hydrogen isotope analysis  will be combined with other isotopic tracer data sets to gain new insights into fluid origins, movements and Zn-Pb ore precipitation processes in the Irish ore field.
