iCRAG is delighted to congratulate Professor Jennifer McElwain who has been awarded a Royal Irish Academy Gold Medal. Only two Gold Medals are awarded per year to idividuals who “have made a demonstrable and internationally recognised outstanding scholarly contribution in their fields”. Furthermore, the recipients are recognised as being highly influential and having the potential to inspire future generations. Professor McElwain has been recognised for her work on the development and use of palaeobotanical methods (proxies) that use fossil plants to reconstruct the evolution of Earth's atmospheric composition and climate on multimillion year timescales.
An Taoiseach, Micheál Martin, T.D. will present the Gold Medals in the Saloon Room, Provost’s House, Trinity College Dublin at 12:00, Monday, 4 April 2022.
