Title: Metallogenesis of Cu deposits in Palaeozoic sedimentary rocks, southern Ireland
Researchers: Dr Sean Johnson, Dr Pat Meere
Much of the work for this project will focus on the copper occurrances across S. Ireland in order to understand their nature and distribution. This project will combine extensive regional fieldwork with state of the art analytical techniques (i.e. LA-ICP-MS, MC-ICP-MS, GC-IRMS, and mineral and trace element geochemistry) in order to understand the formation history of these occurrances, create a local and regional scale paragensis in order to understand and fingerprint timings of mineralising fluids, as well as investigate genetic links between deposits and Zn-Pb in the Irish midlands. Furthermore, this project aims to provide industry with the geochemically fingerprints of the mineralisation events that can be utilised in exploration.
