Project title: Up-dip stratigraphic pinch-out of lacustrine turbidite systems in the North Falkland Basin
Researcher: Arron Fox
The primary purpose of this project is to further develop the researcher's research skills and competencies, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed publications and the development of funding proposals, along with the mentorship of students. The aim of this RA position is to provide a better understanding of upslope stratigraphic pinch-outs in lacustrine turbidite systems in the North Falklands Basin. A summary of the inferred updip trapping styles for the reservoirs discussed will be provided. Lessons learnt from the North Falklands Basin will provide important insights for exploration for gas in the tectonically analogous Porcupine Basin. The main objective of this study is to carry out a comprehensive seismic interpretation and detailed well analysis in the eastern graben of the North Falklands Basin. To assess the trapping style and sealing attributes, each depositional system was characterized.
